FISHING ROD – ADULT AND SENIOR SIMS – PRIZES: FISHERSIM OUTFIT, WALLPAPER, POSTERS AND LP
Adults and seniors can fish using the fishing rod at the park (and at the campgrounds and beach when you build those places)
Only 1 sim can fish at a time using each fishing rod so if you only have the park then only one sim can fish, if you have the park and campgrounds built then 2 sims can fish.
Once you have brought your sim to the park/ campgrounds/ beach, click on the fishing rod and select one of the options:
- Go Fishing- 10 minutes
- Unwind- 1 hour
- Settle In- 9 hours
- 24 Hour Fishathon- 1 day
After the time has passed come back and click the exclamation mark above your sims head, your sim will either catch a fish or will be caught by a giant fish- you will need to click on the exclamation mark 3 times when the fish jumps to be spat out:
If you don’t manage to click 3 times the fish will still spit out your sim and disappear but you will not earn a fish for the collection.
TIP: senior sims will not be caught by the giant fish
If your sim just catches a fish or you save them from the giant fish you will earn a fish collectible. Every time you complete one of the 4 fishing options above your fishing hobby skill level up percentage will increase, once you reach 100% you will level up, there are 8 levels. You need to reach level 8 to be able to unlock all of the fish collectibles, once unlocked you will be able to find them.
The table below shows the level up percentage for each option:

For example you could do the day option once, the 9 hour option once and then the 1 hour option to reach level 8 from level 7
NOTE: it says 240% but you will start from 0% at level 4
The next table shows you for each level what fish collectibles you unlock (so you can then find those ones too) and also the level up reward that a second and future sims will receive when they level up in this hobby:

NOTE: only the first sim completing this hobby needs to get to level 8 to unlock all the collectibles, future sims will be able to find any collectible even if they are only on level 1 in this hobby (and they can do the shortest option to try and find the collectibles quicker!)
You won’t find a new collectible each time, you will get repeats, if this happens just keep going, you will find them eventually! If it is still taking too long you can use the lucky spin on the row where you cannot find the item, this will cost LPs, when you click on the LP button it will clear the row and give you a random collectible on that row so you aren’t guaranteed a new item (you will get back any other collectibles you already had in that row) Need to earn some LPs to use the lucky spin?
The completed fishing collection is shown below, once you complete the collection you need to click ‘start a new collection’ at the top of the hobby collection screen, this clears the board so you can complete the collection again to earn more rewards (you will only get the option to restart the hobby collection when you have completed the collection):
You will earn XPs when you complete a row in the hobby but to complete the collection you need to find all 18 of the collectibles
The rewards for completing this collection are fishersim outfit, wallpaper, posters and 3LP:
- The first time you complete the collection you unlock the fishersim outfit which can be found in the wardrobe once you have built the costume and swim store
- The second time you unlock fish wallpaper and posters
- From the third time onwards each time you complete the collection you will earn 3LP

I think they changed it to 5 LP now as I am trying to unlock the third collection of fish and it shows that I will get 5 LP for doing so. I don’t know if that is just for the third one and then it will go to 3 LP for the next collections or if it is now just 5 LP for the remainder of the collections collected.
How do I put the outfit on? When I go to a drawer or chest, it doesn’t give me the options for the full outfits. Do I have to make a new sim??
Outfits can only be found in the costume and swim store now
Can more than one sim do this task at the same time?
No only one sim can fish at the park, but once the beach is unlocked you can also fish there
Hi weightlessmagic! I just noticed you can also fish at the campgrounds. I’m going to have three sims fish with the 10 minute option to complete the collection faster (one at the park, one at the campgrounds, and one at the beach). I remember the first time I completed the collection with just one sim at the park a couple of years ago – it took weeks!!! I’m restarting my collection now, because I didn’t know until I read your post that there are more prizes after the fishing outfits. Thanks!

The fishing collection definitely takes forever when you are just using the park as there are 18 fish to collect!

The only reason to do a long action is to increase your level quicker so you can find all the fish, once you have unlocked all the levels you can do the 10 minute option over and over to find them
Hi! Thanks for this blog:) It makes playing the game so much easier.. I was just wondering.. For the hobbies, when you get one ribbon, the next one (Or few) would sort of light up right? To show you what’s next.. For my fishing (and a few other hobbies), it doesn’t light up, and I’m stuck getting the same fish over and over again.. I think I’ve gone fishing at least 10-15 times and I’m only getting the first 4 fish repeatedly.. Do you happen to know why?

The next ones only light up if you are on the correct level so if you have found all up to level 5 but are not on level 6 yet you won’t be able to find the level 6 fish, once on level 6 those will light up and unlock the fish.
To find out what level you are on go to the hobby tab, then if you have found all the fish in that level do the longest option until you level up as there isn’t much point doing the short options to find the same fish that you already have over and over.

I have been fishing for several days but I’m still on the first level an tips to go quicker and thanks for doing this it really helps.
If you do the longest option you should level up quicker, then when you are at the level you want you can do the shorter option to find the items for that level then go back to the longer option to level up again

How many sims can do this hobby at one time?

You need to tap on the exclamation mark when the giant fish jumps out of the water to save your sim and earn a fish too, if you don’t click your sim will be spat out but you will not get a fish for your collection
Why haven’t I found a certain fish yet?
Some take longer to get than others so just keep going, you will find them eventually!

If you choose the option to fish for a day, but you reach level two in five hours, do you continue to accrue hobby experience?
I don’t believe you do, you will be on 0% for the next level once you level up as it tells you you have levelled up once they have finished that task

A little piece of advice for those who also find the giant fish unnecessarily time consuming: it “eats” only adults, but not seniors! I’ve been doing this hobby only with seniors lately, and it’s e.g. much faster to find new fish with the 10 min option without having to tap on the giant one to spit my sim out 😀
I hope this helps someone, for me this hobby is much less annoying since I discovered this!
I like the giant fish, it only adds a few seconds and i’ve won a few lps through it as well! (Though it tends to be xp or simoleons)
There are only 1 star lake at the park.. how can i have 3 star lake?
If there is only one of an item it will only have 1 star, this doesn’t mean it is bad, there just isn’t another one to be rated against so it only has 1 star.
