How can I get my pet to use the accessories? Most items you click on the item and select call over, most of the time if they aren’t busy they will use it but they sometimes use items without being prompted.
NOTE: food and water bowls need to be filled up once a dog has emptied them, you can either get a sim to click on the bowl and select fill or you can store the bowl in your inventory and get it out again and it will refill.
Do you need to buy accessories? Not if you don’t want to, no. They do use them sometimes but they are mainly for decoration. It doesn’t increase their happiness if they have these items.
How do I play frisbee with a dog? To complete this task you need to buy a frisbee and place it on the ground at a house where the dog lives, a sim can then click on the frisbee and play with the dog.
Dog Hobbies
Once you complete the life dreams and legacies quest and build the pet park your dogs can partake in Dog Agility and Dog Obedience hobbies (to take a dog to the pet park they need to be wearing a collar from the Pet Salon)

Collecting Treasure
Once you have brought the pet they will wander around the house and garden and collect treasure.
Collecting treasure using dogs
A dog will run off and a shovel bubble will appear above their head, click on it and they will dig up simoleons or LPs.
Collecting treasure using cats
A cat will run off and a exclamation mark bubble will appear above their head, click on it and they will pounce on simoleons or LPs.
NOTE: The higher the star rating of a cat or dog the more LPs and simoleons they should find
Puppies and Kittens cannot find treasure
Ageing Puppies and Kittens
On puppies and kittens when you click on them you will see the option to Age to Adult, to do this you need to bake some birthday biscuits on a stove (which cost 15LPs and take a day to cook)
Renaming a Pet
Click on the pet, select rename and you can then choose a new name for your pet
Relocating a Pet
Click on the pet, select relocate and select a sim from the list that appears, that pet will then move to that sims house
Happiness Bar
The happiness bar indicates how happy your pet is, the more unhappy they are the slower they walk and the less treasure they will find.
To make a pet happy you need a sim to click on the pet and select an option with a smiley face, for example on a dog you can shake hands or praise to increase their happiness:
Deleting a Pet
Click on the pet, select relocate and the first option is put up for adoption which will remove the pet from your game
RABBITS
can be found in buy mode under pets
What rabbits can you buy?
1 Star Rabbits cost:
- S15,000
- 12LPs
2 Star Rabbit cost:
- 20LPs
3 Star Rabbit cost:
- 30LPs
Rabbit Interactions with Sims
NOTE: the time the interactions take depends on the star rating of the pet
Adult, Teen and Preteen Options:
Senior Option:
Babies and Toddlers cannot interact with a rabbit
That is all you can do with rabbits, they do not find simoleons or LPs like dogs and cats
Can pets die?
No! Your pets don’t die, even when they are unhappy
There are a few other pets that you may have in your pet store but these are not mentioned in this post as not everyone has access to them as they were limited timed prizes

Hi! Thanks for putting this blog together, it has been super helpful. I have a greyhound puppy and its happiness has dropped to half way. I have had heaps of adult sims and toddlers complete smiley face actions with them but the bar never increases. Are you able to give me any advice? Thanks!
How strange! I don’t know why nothing is increasing their happiness but I wouldn’t worry about it too much as nothing will happen if they are unhappy and when the game is updated their happiness bar will be full again!

Hey, I have a puppy and a kitten and bought all the accessories for each. However i can’t call either pet over to anything or take them anywhere. Can you please explain what i am doing wrong. I have the accessories in the middle of the room and it still won’t let me call them over to use them. Anything you can tell me would help. Thank you in advanced.
It does say in the post under both the kitten and puppy sections that you cannot call them over to use the accessories, if they want to use them they will choose to, you cannot make them.

Have you tried just picking up the kitten? That usually increases their happiness.

Hi! My fairy randomly disappeared and I have no clue what happened! Also, my puppy is at another house now. When I try to relocate it back to its owner it won’t let me (it shows that its already owned by that family). I’m so confused. Can anyone help?
Are you sure she isn’t just hiding somewhere around the house? or she may have also relocated by accident so check all your houses.
Click on relocate and move it to a new house and then click relocate again and you will be able to move it back to the house its owner is living in.
You might have accidentally clicked, ‘Put up for adoption ’ . If not try to clear all your furniture into the inventory, you might find her somewhere (but I guess it mostly works if you have a small house) 🐶🐱
Is it “worth it” it age my puppy and kitten to full size? I know one they are grown they will be able to find treasure but I have one dog already that I often forget about.
The biscuits to age them are 15 LP which I feel is a lot.
I suppose its a matter of whether I will watch them to see if they dig up money or LP but, what is your opinion?
Personally I wouldn’t use a biscuit to age them, if I wanted a dog in the first place I would buy one from the pet store! If you aren’t too bothered either way then I suggest you just leave it as a puppy and save yourself 15LPs 🙂

Have you looked under baking and scrolled right down to near the bottom of the list?
I saw my neighbor house. He has a dog-german shepherd. but the thing is that he haven’t build the pet store. Is that even possible?
He may have started the game when we got a dog in the first house which is why he already has a dog without building the pet store.
I can’t seem to interact with any of the pets’ objects. I can’t call the cat or dog over to their food dishes even after filling them.
The same with the cat bed and scratching post.
Has this changed?
Are you trying to call over a puppy or kitten? If so they cannot be called over but they will still use them occasionally on their own.
Hi there. I have a little extra money on the sims FreePlay and I am planning on making my sims have a baby. I want to make a house dedicated to fun stuff for babies to do (idk I am bored)… my question is- is it even possible for babies/toddlers to go places besides their house? Thanks
Yes they can, once you complete the Nanny Knows Best quest babies can be picked up and taken to different places with an adult sim.
I got a two-story house in the sims and my cat tree is upstairs. Can cats and dogs get up the stairs? I haven’t see pan them but I don’t know.

Hi, my robo dog does not go upstairs in the house boat, is that normal please??? Also, the new Pink Pet Bed, is that only for dogs? They should mark the new beds and toys for dog or cat. I don’t see these questions in this thread so I don’t think they’ve been answered.
The dog should be able to go up the stairs but sometimes they don’t like to do what you tell them to do, what happens when you try and get them upstairs?
Yes the pink pet bed is just for dogs, that was from the celebrity pet live event that only had items for dogs, I agree though it would really help if they said which pet an item was for.
Hi! I’m doing my weekly tasks and I have to play frisbee with a dog. I bought one, placed it on the ground at a house where a dog lives, but I can’t click on it. I’ve placed it inside and outside the house, tried to click on it while having 3 different sims selected, one of them even has 100% of the puppy pals hobby…
I ran out of ideas… what might I be doing wrongly?
You need a dog in the house, not a puppy. A puppy cannot use the frisbee.

Help! I have a sim working towards a Life Dream, she has to play frisbee with a dog. I have had her play several times but now all of a sudden she will not drop the frisbee so that I can click on it and “play frisbee.”
I have logged out of the game several times, had the sim do tasks like eat and wash hands. When I click on the sim it is only option for give ultimate makeover or have a birthday.
If I click on the dog there is only the option to shake hands or praise.
Have you ever heard of this?
The sim is holding the frisbee? Have you tried clicking on the wardrobe and changing her outfit? This might make her drop it, or if you have a baby or puppy/kitten in your town get her to pick them up, this usually fixes this issue.
I’ve seen this too! I’ve had my sim pet the dog, but they still keep holding the frisbee. I think it’s a funny glitch but eventually my sim will put it down. Didn’t try changing outfits but will next time I see this.
I just built a petting zoo, well, just because … I bit the bullet and built the downtown high school and got two piggys but boy did I have a job getting them both into a pen ‘without a gate’ It took a lot of patience and nifty planning with use of furniture barricades LOL I also added an aviary and rabbits, I wish there were more farm type animals and I wish you could relocate the horses to a home lot. I’m not caring for the puppy farms I’ve seen online, they are too much like puppy mills for me to enjoy XX

If my sim has pets and they move on to the afterlife, what happens to their pets? Do they get put up for adoption? If they do, will I have to pay for them again?
Nothing happens to their pets, they will stay in the house and then you can relocate them to a different house or move another sim into that house to live with them, they won’t die or leave.

I’ve stumbled across your blog more than once, since I’ve been playing sims free play, again, & have found your posts very helpful each time. (Previously I got bored cause it took so long to get anywhere without spending real $, but this time I’ve done some research & totally not bored.) This time I had to send my thanks about putting the food in the inventory to refill it, it has saved me so much guilt. I always seem to be sending my sims off to work or gardening & kept forgetting to check the pet bowls first. I have since slightly elaborated on the trick to make it even easier by getting duplicates. Now I just go into the home store, select move & sell, select the empty bowl, select duplicate, reselect the empty bowl & put it in inventory. Previously it felt more clunky putting the bowls in inventory & than finding the pets section in inventory (maybe I just have to much inventory) to put the bowls back out (but filled, awesome). Thank you!!!
Are pets able to dig for treasure at the pet park?
I don’t think they can, I sent a dog and a cat to the pet park and all they did was run around a bit or just stand or sit on a chair, they didn’t find any treasure

Can you earn simoleans from a rabbit
No, rabbits won’t earn you any simoleons.
I have a house in which 1 pet lives. Yet the owner of the house has “2 pets”. This even persisted through death of the owner. Badge on the house says 1 pet. New owner can’t have a 2nd pet because he allready owns two pets. Where is that second pet? How do I fix this?

No you won’t get any money, you are basically just deleting them from your game.
Hello, I have purchased 2 frisbees, placed them at a home and played frisbee with the dogs, now the frisbees are missing, are they a one time use?
The frisbee may be somewhere else in or around your house as dogs pick them up.
Hello, I have puppies that I want to contain in a room. Are there any doors that I can use that sims can walk through but animals can’t? The only thing that works is if I put them upstairs bc they can’t go downstairs themselves. But even then, sometimes they end up downstairs.
Unfortunately there aren’t any doors that work like that.
